The Long Awaited 4gb iPhone

IphoneNova

Surrounding the unveiling of the 4gb iPhone was a considerable amount of expectation, enthusiasm and excitement. The iPhone was to be an all in one communication device with the icing on the top being the incorporation of the music player.

For the most part the 4gb iPhone lived up to its expectations. Individuals lined up for hours in front of stores hoping they would be the first to own this technological marvel. This was due to its design and the multi-functions available on the unit. However, there were a few negative comments regarding the 4gb iPhone.

The Design Of The 4gb iPhone

Although you can’t tell a book by its cover, the 4gb iPhone can certainly sell itself by the way it looks. That is because the iPhone has a sleek design and is constructed with a huge screen. This screen is where the action takes place and is sensitive to the touch of the user to activate the various programs.

In addition, the 4gb iPhone is not bulky or cumbersome. In fact the iPhone is very thin which adds to its beauty and style.

The Multi-Functions

The operating system that the 4gb iPhone runs on is the Mac OS X. This system helps to support the many functions that are contained on the iPhone.

One of those applications is the music player. Another application included as part of the multi-functional package is a 2 megapixel camera. One additional worthwhile feature, out of many, was the ease of accessing the internet.

Other functions provided by the iPhone were the ability to perform additional communication processes. These functions included e-mail, text messaging and the ability to easily access the Internet.

Negative Comments Regarding The 4gb iPhone

Of course nothing is perfect. The 4gb iPhone is no exception.

One of the negative comments about the 4gb iPhone was that the camera did not have a video option. In addition, it was determined that 4gb was not enough memory.

The reality of the iPhone having only 4gb affected the future of the 4gb iPhone. Two months following the unveiling of this iPhone it was announced that this particular model of the iPhone would no longer be produced.

This of course affected the selling price of the 4gb iPhone. Originally, when the iPhone hit the market the selling price was set at around $499.00. With the determination that the memory was not sufficient the resulting decision was to stop production of this model. Because of this decision a 4gb iPhone can be purchased for about $200 less.

Longing to Be Touched: The Apple iPhone

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

IphoneNova

In the modern age, status is everything, and status is best achieved through technology. From a car with built-in television screens and voice-activated audio playback to appliances able to function on their own without direction from users, technology, increasing in both capability and price, has become the symbol of luxury. No college student can be seen without an iPod, and no professional can be seen without a Blackberry. These devices have become must-haves for the sake of reputation, and while they may not technically be necessary, they become necessary through the pressure of social perception.

When talk of the iphone first began to circulate throughout the technological world, it was slated as one of the biggest must-haves of 2007. The moment it became a reality, the moment Apple set a release date, it was already sold-out. From pre-orders and online sales to on-sight, week-long lines, the first shipment of iPhones was gone before anyone had the chance to notice or decide whether or not it was worth the hundreds of dollars. But is the Apple iPhone worth its price tag? Or is it simply another victory for marketing and advertising? Time will tell, but so far, the Apple iPhone has been met with mixed reviews, even though some consumers live and die by the device.

Behind the Name

Apple as a brand name has become a staple of technology. From the iMac to the iPod, it is the crowning achievement of multimedia devices; in a sense, it is not worth buying an mp3 player unless it is an iPod, or a laptop unless it is a PowerBook. While the prices of Apple devices are steep, the company seems to defend the cost: cheaper devices rarely do well in the face of Apple products, and consumers are more than willing to put down hundreds more for one of the items. This is due in part to Apple’s marketing, but also to its reliability; the company has proven that its products are durable, long-lasting and cutting edge, and third-party companies release their products ultimately to be compatible with Apple products. For a consumer, this means that buying Apple assures only the best, from both Apple itself and every other company involved with the product.

So what about the Apple iPhone? While it is a technological wonder, combining an iPod, cell phone and internet browser all at once in a sleek, sexy package with a touch screen and virtual keyboard that makes geeks and lawyers alike drool, it is expensive, and to many, unnecessary. For those who already own an iPod and a cell phone, not much else is gained with the Apple iPhone save the convenience of having it all in one place. Most cell phones have built-in internet browsers and cameras, and any edition of the iPod is capable of excellent music playback. Thankfully for Apple, the Apple iPhone was slated the best invention of 2007, and even those consumers who had no need for the device just had to buy it to stay in the loop and save their reputations. And even those who have yet to buy the device probably will when their cell phones or iPods need upgrades, or when their provider contracts expire. Apple has proven that anything it releases is golden, and whenever it is time to shop for a new technological device, its products top almost anyone’s list.

A Cloud in the Sky: iPhone Complaints

Monday, March 24th, 2008

IphoneNova

The Apple iPhone set records on the day of its releasing; the entire first shipment sold out before it even touched store shelves. Hopeful customers waited in lines for days, and online pre-sales were uncontestable. Backed by the advertising and marketing prowess of Apple, the iPhone became the must-have electronic device of 2007, even for those who did not truly need it. But was the hype deserved? While most buyers were happy with their iPhones, over time, the excitement began to fade.

Users quickly became aware of certain quirks and drawbacks to the iPhone system, and while they did not necessarily regret their decisions, they began to second-guess the quickness with which they dove into the iPhone craze. A large spectrum of iPhone complaints have plagued the popularity of the Apple device, and while the iPhone remains a symbol of status, new consumers are more hesitant to buy it, not wanting to buy into the initial hype that burned a lot of individuals.

The Sucker Punch

What many consumers were not aware of during the initial iPhone hype were the underlying agreements between Apple and AT&T. The iPhone could not be used without a cell phone contract, and the iPhone could only work on the AT&T network. Put bluntly, users would need to choose AT&T as their provider if they wanted to be able to use their iPhones. This created a storm of iPhone complaints; consumers with pre-existing cell phone plans did not want to have to pay fees to opt out of their contracts in order to select a new contract with AT&T. And for those without contracts, the AT&T plans were a lot more costly than they expected. A lot of iPhone complaints centered on the extreme cost of the iPhone itself, but the AT&T service plans were even more extreme.

The iPhone needs more than a simple cell phone plan; it needs a multimedia plan. In other words, while many cell phone plans include minutes and a certain amount of data transfers, the perks of the iPhone are completely multimedia related. These plans included minutes and text messages, but also had additional costs for internet browsing minutes, downloads, data transfers and multimedia attachments. These costs quickly added up, and the additional fees for doing over these limits spawned even more iPhone complaints. Due to the iPhone being locked onto the AT&T system, AT&T reserved the right to charge whatever it wanted; it had no competition. Thankfully, hackers have recently unlocked the iPhone, allowing it to operate under other cell phone providers. Hopefully this will create a healthy environment of competition, and with companies fighting for contracts, the prices of the plans will decrease. Still, iPhone complaints come and go, yet the iPhone remains a must-have device for anyone seeking social status.

The Appeal Of The iPhone: iPhone Applications

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

iphonemagic

iPhones are one of the latest technological devices to hit the market. It seems that consumers have an insatiable thirst for the latest in gadgets. With the iPhone there seems to be little disappointment.

That is because, at an individual’s fingertips, they can e-mail, text a friend, surf the internet, listen to their favorite music, watch videos, look up an address of an old friend, keep their daily schedule and make a phone call. However, human nature is as such that satisfaction is temporary and even in the case of owning a fully loaded iPhone, the owners of iPhones want more.

Therefore, if wishing to expand beyond what is basically available on the iPhone, it is important to know about other iPhone applications and where to locate them.

What Are iPhone Applications?

IPhone applications are those compatible programs that run in concert with the iPhone operating system. The stylishness, ease-of-use, touch screen features and power of the iPhone are the qualities that make the iPhone a desirable product. However, it is the iPhone applications which separate the iPhone from comparable products.

Some of those iPhone applications that are standard on this product include a calendar, camera, Google map feature, weather, calculator, note feature, iTunes, photo storage, etc. In addition, the main iPhone applications include a phone, e-mail feature and iPod. Also included is the ability to surf the Internet through the use of the iPhone. This iPhone application is called Safari.

Additional iPhone Applications

Eventually, owners of the iPhone may want to add additional iPhone applications to their unit. Depending upon an individual’s budget there are as many iPhone applications to meet a person’s professional and personal lifestyle.

Specifically, those iPhone applications can include programs from various categories. Those categories can include mathematics, games, entertainment, news, productivity, search tools, socializing, sports, travel, utilities, weather, etc.

These additional iPhone applications can be downloaded through the official iPhone Internet web site. The process involves the selection of what new iPhone application the individual would like to download.

For example if the game category is selected the next screen reveals the available games that can be downloaded onto the iPhone. Generally, once the game is selected the Internet user is redirected to another web site which represents a company that provides these various iPhone applications. These websites are known as 3rd party download websites. Once the game, in this case, is selected the individual may be offered the opportunity to subscribe to a membership, which for a reasonable fee, will offer unlimited downloads of various games.

Why There Is Lack Of FM Radio For Iphone Is Best Known Only To Apple

Friday, March 21st, 2008

iphoneNova

iPhones have great amount of functionality to them that goes way beyond simple communication and in fact comprises multi-media entertainment and communication and besides, it is also a great device as far as its appearance goes. And, it also comes with the best of Web 2.0 interactiveness. In fact, the iPhone has many things going for it, but does it have FM radio for iPhone? Unfortunately, despite the iPhone boasting of MP3 player, digital camera and real time video as well as Google Maps, and even photo storage and access to email and Internet, it cannot say that there is FM radio for iPhone.

Out Of Date

Of course, part of the reason why there is no FM radio for iPhone is that today, nobody really cares all that much for the radio and these days it is really all about the Internet and TV, which in any case are ruling the roost. After all, it is not the fifties that we are living in today when radio was central to entertainment and even information dissemination and it was, in those days, the main attraction.

Another possible reason why there is no FM radio for iPhone is that the radio is not a very personable device and in addition, it has rather a disruptive influence in our lives rather than being something that dovetails with modern lifestyles. Of course, if the iPhone had been invented when the Sony walkman was the rage, chances are that there would certainly have been FM radio for iPhone.

In fact, it was only much after the Sony walkman had become popular with the general public that a radio was added to it, and this lack of a radio in the original Sony Walkman can be another reason why manufacturers such as Apple have not included FM radio for iPhone.

Still, you might wonder if the iPhone can have Internet connectivity, then why is there no FM radio for iPhone? After all, the iPhone is multi-media if nothing else and thus having FM radio for iPhone should have indeed been included. The answer to this may lie in the fact that there is always iTunes to listen to and thus there is really no need for FM radio for iPhone.

However, it is only Apple that can best answer the question as to why there is no FM radio for iPhone and obviously the reasons for omitting this feature would no doubt be due to practicality rather than incapability. However, consumers have yet to be informed by Apple regarding why there is FM radio for iPhone, and so we can only guess as to the real reason for its omission.

You Can Make Your Own Ringtone With the iPhone Ringtone Maker

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

IphoneNova

For many years now the idea of selling a song as a ringtone has been extremely popular. The ringtone business has been a huge part of music sales for many years now, and many songs have been catapulted to hit status based solely on their success as a ringtone. People would gladly pay for a ringtone as the music used on the ringtone was copyrighted so a fee had to be paid.

Artists started to create entire marketing campaigns around making their music ringtone friendly and trying to get on as many cellular phones as possible. Ringtones have evolved into their own genre almost as they have their own music chart, based solely on sales of course, and it has become standard practice now for artists to release their newest songs not only on an album format, and in a single for radio, but also as a ringtone to an audience that will probably never listen to the entire album.

It has gotten to the point where the artist now not only has to choose the best song of their new album to release as a single but now they have to choose the best 10 seconds of that song to release as a ringtone! Leave it to Apple to change all of that.

IphoneNova

With the release of the iPhone Apple also released the iPhone Ringtone Maker. The idea behind the iPhone Ringtone Maker was that people could take the music they have created and use the iPhone Ringtone Maker to make it into a ringtone that they could give to other people.

It is almost like getting on the radio for new artists, the more cellular phones using your ringtone the better your chances of becoming well known. With the iPhone Ringtone Maker any new artist can easily create a ringtone that can be given to anyone that has an iPhone and since the iPhone is becoming more and more popular the iPhone Ringtone Maker can give any new artist a lot of exposure.

Shifting Back to the Phone

I remember not too long ago someone had mentioned that the internet was going to eliminate the need for telephones in the future and everyone would communicate with the internet in some form. The funny thing is that while that may be true the vehicle being used to communicate through the internet is the telephone!

So it has all come full circle and with the iPhone Ringtone Maker you can make sure that all of the communicating starts with your ringtone. Use the iPhone Ringtone Maker to get your newest song out to people and see who comes back for more. It is a 10 second commercial to try and sell your new album.

Apple continues to innovate for the iPhone and we all know that we have not seen the end of the innovation by a long shot. A big part of that innovation is personalization and that is what the iPhone Ringtone Maker is all about.

Just Some of the iPhone Features

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

iphonemagic

Many people have heard of the iPhone and some people own them. But for the vast majority of people that cannot afford an iPhone right now it looks like a high end tech toy that no one really needs but yet everyone really wants. So what are some of the iPhone features? What can this thing really do? What is all the hype about? Let’s look at just a few of the iPhone features.

Surfing the Internet

One of the more widely publicized of the iPhone features is that you can surf the internet on a small, but extremely clear, screen in the middle of the iPhone. The iPhone does everything through its screen so the images are larger than on any other cell phone. Surfing the internet on an iPhone, with its clear screen and 8GB if memory, is an experience unlike anything else you have ever seen on any other cell phone. You can check your email or watch a Youtube video all from this wonderful little phone.

Synchronizing Your Favorites

A little known iPhone feature that goes along with the ability to surf the internet is the ability to synchronize your favorites list from your Mac or PC internet browser with your iPhone so that the websites you have bookmarked at home also appear on your iPhone. It is just one more way you can take your home PC or Mac out into the world with you on your iPhone.

Built-in Search Engines

As part of the iPhone features that are designed to make everything as one touch as possible the popular Google and Yahoo! Search engines are built in to the iPhone software. Getting to your favorite search engine is as easy as the touch of one button with this kind of an iPhone feature.

Don’t Forget the Pictures

Another iPhone features is photo taking and storage. With the iPhone you have something that is much better than the grainy and hard to see screens that you have on other cell phones. The iPhone makes it so easy to take photos, store them, and then share them with other people. Plus the screen quality on the iPhone also makes it so much easier to see your photos than on any other cell phone.

Oh Yeah, it’s a Phone Too

Through all of that it is easy to forget that even though it is called an iPhone that it is also a phone as well. You can talk on the phone while surfing the internet, looking at photos, or just as a phone conversation. The flexibility is pretty amazing and the quality on the iPhone for everything from phone voice clarity to picture sharpness is second to none.
